Fire started around 1530hrs on 23 February in Wenita Forest estate.

Dunedin City Council were the Rural Fire Authority

Notification was by 111 call, fire rate of spread, ICP setup and IMT.

Large fire that was going to be over weeks rather than days.

Recognised early need for NIMT team as the region was very dry, RIMT would be unable to work due to long duration periods.

NIMT worked well due to the fact they where familiar with controlling body.

Fire perimeter contains 710ha

Standing trees 295ha

Peak resources 14 aircraft & 120+ men

Heavy Plant: 4 bulldozers, 8 excavators, 6 water tankers

6 fire appliances, 4 slip-on Units, 4 portable dams.
